Jonathan Lerma is a San Diego based photographer. He is a native Californian having lived mostly in San Francisco and San Diego. As an adult he worked as a grocer, retiring in 2015. In 2017, Jonathan would find his lifelong passion when he picked up a camera for the very first time. In 2018, he enrolled in the photography program at San Diego City College. He has also studied at City College of San Francisco. Jonathan’s passion is shooting medium format film, the darkroom being his sanctuary. His other interests include infrared and landscape photography. Jonathan’s approach is often centered around finding healing through art and how he can find connection to the world around him through the lens. Jonathan’s work “Sanctum” was exhibited in June of 2019 at the Studio C Gallery in El Cajon CA. His work “The New, The Old and The Forgotten” was exhibited in the Luxe Gallery at San Diego City College. He has a published photograph in the December 2020 issue Black and White magazine.
